HI, I’M MELISSA. WELCOME TO OUR PS SPEECH BLOG!

Here’s a little bit about me…

I am an American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) certified speech language pathologist (SLP) and mom of two littles, who absolutely loves all things “communication”! I became an SLP to share this passion with others, especially children, and to help them be better communicators. Located in South Florida, I hold a master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Florida International University in Miami. I have been practicing for over 10 years in our local public schools and private practice with 2 to 15 year olds. In that time I taught a preschool speech program for four years that focused solely on articulation and language development of 3 to 5 year olds. It was then I learned that I have a strong passion for early intervention with toddlers and preschool children that I love to share with others.  In 2018, I decided to open my own practice, PS Speech, and have been a private practice clinician and owner ever since. My team and I service children and families in Florida and we love working together to see our client’s soar! Nothing makes me happier than helping children and their families learn ways to foster and improve speech and language. I also love working with my own kids at home and using them at my very own little models!

I created this blog to share the many resources and tips that I have acquired over the years in order to help parents at home and other SLP’s to better support their clients and families. I will be sharing information, ideas, and easy activities that can be done at home to build speech and language and overall communication development. In my opinion, there is nothing more important than being able to communicate. Communication is truly more than just words. It is our way to express ourselves as an individual and form meaningful relationships with others.

On that note, let’s get talking!
